The Hanger is an online resale platform catering to buyers and sellers since 2018. It is the first of its kind in Uganda and here is what makes it extraordinarily unique!

The Hanger has a pivotal concept to help people make money off items they have lying around at home, especially clothes. 

The business is a partnership of two ladies named Lisa Amanda Serwanga & Begumisa Winnie.

The duo came up with the idea when both of them had an excess of clothes they had no use for. For example; 

Winnie always bought clothes for every event or outing which she had no use for after as she couldn’t repeat them e.g dinner gowns, fancy dresses, etc.

Amanda, on the other hand, struggled with the issue of sending relatives abroad to shop for her, whereupon receipt, the size was never quite the right fit or the material wasn’t quite to her liking or worse, she simply didn’t like the cloth or gift given as it simply wasn’t her style.

The duo, well-knowing many more people who faced the same challenge, came up with THE HANGER concept as the solution.

This became much more than a reselling platform & soon after evolved into something bigger and greater with several features for its clients, being both buyers and sellers.

The Hanger is very efficient and offers quality services to both sets of clients, where items are thoroughly checked to establish if they are fit to be sold.

These were well-thought-out features by the Founders, only unique to The Hanger. The features were easily based on client demand and their dedication to creativity in meeting client’s various online shopping needs.

In East Africa, more particularly Uganda, thereʼs is no such forum so the Hanger comes opportunely to stand in the gap. It coined a phrase; HANGING which basically means putting up your item for sale at The Hanger and UNHANGING which means taking an item off the platform. The Hanger has an end goal of becoming an app that is widely used in East Africa and the world, eventually changing lives as a means of quick income for its users.

The features further explained are as follows;

Hanging and Un-hanging

This is the backbone feature of the hanger where clients can put up items pre-approved by the Hanger team for sale and other clients can purchase them. Here one can choose to be either a buyer or seller or best of all both! 

Hanger Hosting

The Hanger hosts are celebrities or fashionistas whose wardrobes have been requested for by clients. Here, people get the chance to shop their favorite outfits worn by celebrities, at an affordable fee and celebrities get to make money and have a chance to interact with fans.

Swap-shop 

This is an annual pop-up event that allows people to swap their items with other people at no cost. This feature was created to reduce our carbon footprint and improve climate change even if just a smidge.  

Buyer Alert

Here the team assists people in finding outfits or items they’re looking for on our platform so as to satisfy an exact client need. This feature saves the client from the hustle & bustle of going to several shops to find a particular item. The alert simply puts all on alert to sell and get instant cash. It’s a swift win for everyone.

Hire Alert

Here the team assists clients in wearing or holding outfits or items temporarily at a cheaper cost. Clients who want to sell their item highly can also avail it for hiring therefore continuously making money off it without losing it for good. The Hanger prides itself on vigilance and ensures total safety of all items. 

This feature works best for gowns or wedding fits.

Personal shopping

Here, the team assists clients in finding an outfit for any event at an affordable, standard fee currently at UGX 20,000/=. This is a perfect feature for an indecisive individual as the team is well versed with fashion trends and styles and easily ensures a breathtaking outcome.
